Renewable Energy: Qualifications & Process
Qualifications
The staff at Halco is highly-trained and experienced, having designed and installed over forty solar electric systems, eleven geothermal systems, ten solar heating systems, and four wind systems in the Central NY region. We are North American Board Certified Energy Professionals (NABCEP) certified PV installers, International Ground Source Heat Pump Association (IGSHPA) certified geothermal designer/installers, and are eligible installers for the New York and Pennsylvania Incentive Programs.
We have also completed trainings through industry non-profit organizations like the IGSHPA, Midwest Renewable Energy Association and IREC, manufacturers such as SunPower, SMA, Viessmann, Advanced Geothermal Technology, and Bergey Windpower, and universities such as SUNY Morrisville and Hudson Valley Community College (HVCC) amongst others.
As a well-established company that has been doing leading heating, cooling, electrical, and building envelope work for twenty-five years, we also offer other services that can dovetail nicely with renewable energy system design and installation. As our track record shows, we will also be here to service and maintain systems in the future. For more details on these and other reasons you should choose Halco for your renewable energy system design and installation, please see this summary.
Our Process
The first step in investigating or moving forward towards a solar electric, wind, geothermal, or solar heating project is to review the information on this website, our portfolio of projects, and to complete a contact form here.
After submitting this form, a member of our staff will contact you to discuss your interests, evaluate your current usage and site location, determine potential system sizes and corresponding energy production, review expected costs, and provide all of this as a preliminary estimate. At Halco, since we want to support all potential clients, there is no charge for this initial work.
If this estimate is satisfactory and you are ready to move forward, we then typically schedule a site visit. A site evaluation involves a visit to your home with one or more of our staff, and involves discussing the project option in more detail, taking exact measurements of roof or ground space, completing shading analysis, and evaluating present electrical, heating, and/or cooling infrastructure.
If you want to move forward after the site evaluation is complete, our staff will then complete one or more project proposals for your review. These proposals will include a Purchase Agreement or Quote (depending on the project type) with a detailed system description and breakdown of all costs and incentives, a usage analysis, system production estimate, system component rationale, schematics of the system layout, photographs of similar recently built systems, and data sheets on all major components.
